SAP Build Code Key Features

Number-1

AI-supported development

Generative AI (SAP Joule) supports students in creating, testing, and managing applications. Code, data models, and tests can be easily generated using natural language.

Number-2

Low-code and pro-code in one environment

SAP Build Code combines visual low-code development and classic pro-code programming (Java & JavaScript). In the curriculum, students learn both approaches using practical scenarios.

Number-3

Seamless integration into SAP BTP

The SAP Build Code development environment is fully integrated into SAP BTP. In the curriculum, students experience how realistic business applications are developed, integrated, and deployed.

AI-Powered Application Development with SAP Build Code in Your Teaching

The SAP UCCs provide this learning environment for SAP Build Process Code (SBC), either as a sandbox or an exclusive learning environment.

The sandbox offers up to 50 student and two lecturer accounts and is shared with other institutions worldwide. Therefore, it is ideal for demos and non-critical lectures. However, the use of this environment is not recommended for graded courses or research and co-innovation projects.

The exclusive learning environment is specifically reserved for individual educational institutions and offers 100 student and two lecturer accounts. In this environment, lecturers can monitor and support their students’ projects. Furthermore, students can share their projects within the same institution, increasing collaboration and exchange.

Lecturers have access to teaching materials, ready-to-use presentations, case studies and exercises that can be used both in teaching and in research projects.

The entire curriculum is available in German and English.

As part of this curriculum, students learn the basics and possibilities of (generative) AI-supported application development with SAP Build Code. Using a practical case study based on the fictional company Global Bike Inc. (GBI), key functions and tools for developing, integrating, and managing business applications are taught.

The case study is divided into seven consecutive parts. Step by step, various approaches, from classic low-code development to the use of AI-based assistants and image processing, are demonstrated. The goal is to learn about the range of modern development methods on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and apply them in practice.

No special prior knowledge is required. The case study guides students step by step through all the functions and offers a practical introduction to AI-supported application development with SAP Build Code.

Creation of an app for displaying the GBI price list using SAP Build Apps (low-code development)

Development of an application for displaying invoice data for GBI using SAP Build Code

Creation of an app for managing customer contracts solely through text input with SAP Joule

Generation of an application for displaying orders and supplier data from a hand-drawn sketch

Development of an app for managing sales orders using text and doodle prompting

Creation of an application for a customer loyalty program that manages purchases and bonus points

Independent development of an incident management app using an official SAP BTP tutorial and Guide Center. This comprehensive task is based on real-life project situations in everyday working life.
